Importance of Foundation and Contouring!

Hello ladies!! 😊

Today I wanted to post a couple of pictures to show you all the difference contouring makes when doing your makeup! I know I have a round face and that has always been something I haven't liked very much! When I learned to contour, I fee much better about the structure of my face!! I think it looks like pounds are being erased!

Here is a picture without any makeup at all. I have blemishes, some bumps and lots of redness. I have never had great skin, but with age and a skin care routine, it has become a lot better! Also, I used to be very oily, but as I have gotten older it's more combination with days that are still very oily!

This picture is just my foundation (Estee Lauder Double Wear-Beige Ivory) and concealer under my eyes, along the bridge of the nose, my chin, and my forehead (Estee Lauder Double Wear, but I will say this isn't my favorite. It is good but I prefer Urban Decay Naked Skin). I showed this step because the foundation helps for sure, but I still have no shape through my cheeks or anywhere else on my face really.

This is my completed makeup look today (minus lipstick)! The lighting isn't great, but you get the picture! I hope this gives you an idea of a basic contour for the face. My nose looks slimmer, my cheeks more defined and the focus goes toward the middle of my face rather than all over!

If you all would like a more in depth routine or maybe want to know any products used or anything really, please let me know!! :)

Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup

Tomorrow, Jared and I are planning on making one of our favorite Pinterest recipe finds! Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup. Such a great Fall meal. We are going to have a very busy week, so the plan is to make a large batch to heat up throughout the week. We have found that being just the two of us eating a meal, it is hard to portion it properly. Soup though is our go to so we can keep eating on its

Anywho, I'm posting a link to the recipe below so hopefully you all can enjoy it as much as we have! I would like to say though that it claims for a 25 minute prep time, but it felt like a lot longer when we made it before (but it is SO worth it!)

Here is the link! :)

Well, Hello There!

Here is my new hubby and I. (Aren't we just so cute?).

We were married on May 23, 2015. Although we had been together for five years previously, there was still a lot of new to come along with the last name. Not only did I become a wife to an amazing husband, but I also became a caregiver, interior designer, maid, and commander of a new apartment. I am constantly having to come up with creative ways to make our home look and feel more homey.

Pinterest is my lifesaver.

Not only is this with the interior design of our home, but with the cooking as well. Both of us coming from Southern bred homes, our mama's put a lot of work into their cooking! I never realized the task I was volunteering for until I was calling my mother asking, 'how long do I cook the chicken?' I have had to be a gormet chef to create the foods both my husband and myself will enjoy. We are still learning our way around the kitchen (& sometimes McDonald's.)

Homemade Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup! (Another Pinterest special)
After only shrinking a few of Jared's shirts and forgetting the clothes in the washing machine a couple of times, I'm figuring this wife stuff out.

After accepting Dix as my new last name and opening up a wonderful new chapter of my life, I not only became Hayley Dix, I also became Mrs. Dix. I was offered and accepted my very first contracted teaching position in special education about an hour after my husband and I had embarked from our cruise ship on our honeymoon. Talk about an exciting week! I was blessed beyond belief. After a couple of summer months, I realized just how important Pinterest would become, not only at home, but in my teaching career as well. Because I'm trying to figure out how many towels to put in the washing machine at home, then how many activities I need to plan for my students at school.
My very first little classroom!

My very first little classroom!

Upon all of this, I am destined to forever take at least an hour to get ready to go ANYWHERE (it's really hard to blend that eyeshadow and conceal those bags in any less amount of time, Jacklyn Hill would surely agree). This is sometimes a highly interesting predicament when I try to get to school at 7:00 a.m. every day after doing something with my mane of hair and stopping by to get a pumpkin spice latte....

Oh, and did I mention doing all this on a newlywed budget?

SHEW. Let me tell ya, its an adventure. A wonderful, exciting, awesome adventure. To conclude this lengthy, rambling introduction... through this blog I want to share my mess ups, fixer-uppers, tricks, questions, and successes with all the other women on new life adventures right here with me.

Loving Life Together (May I point out that he was buying me a Pumpkin Latte in this picture)

Let's all have fun together!

Yours Truly,

Mrs. Dix
